Evelyn Underhill was a well known writer for her works on Christian mysticism. Immanence itself focuses on transcendence in practical, everyday life. Keeping sacred the mundane in her typical flair and style.
This particular, hardback edition, of Immanence: A Book Of Verses was published by J. M. Dent & Sons in 1913 and has a bright blue cover with a paler blue lettering with a Victorian style border.
There is an inscription to the interior which reads:
“ To my dear fiancé,
With much love in memory of happy days in the West Country.
from Fanny
Time flies, suns rise and shadows fall, Let it go by, so love is over all.
Inscription on a sun dial
September 1913”
Overall the volume is in good condition for its age, there is a slight split to the spine as shown in the photos with light foxing on the pages due to age, however otherwise it has been well looked after throughout the years.
