A beautiful vintage lacquered wooden box featuring an elegant gold bird and willow tree scene, hand-decorated against a rich reddish-brown lacquer finish. The imagery is symbolic in East Asian art, with willow trees often representing adaptability and resilience.
This box has a classic rectangular shape with a hinged lid and original keyhole escutcheon (sadly, no key present). The interior is finished in a dark lacquer, making it ideal for storing jewelry, keepsakes, letters, or small collectibles. It also works wonderfully as a decorative accent on a shelf, desk, or vanity.
Overall the box does show signs of wear with dings and scrapes present, as shown in the photos. Although the original key is lost, the box is unlocked and useable. It measures at approximately 18cm in length, 7cm in depth and 14cm in width.
