A pair of rather adorable hikers, taking a quick breather before hopping in the hot springs next to them. Kokeshi style ornaments, have a very long and developed history, initially created during in the mountainous areas of northern Japan, during winter when we all have to admit we have more free time on our hands at home. People started to carve this little toy dolls which ended being sold to tourists visiting the hot springs in the summer.
This particular kokeshi doll pair are from Mount Rokkō, a mountainous town located in the Hyogo Prefecture in Japan.They are in good condition with all elements of present and correct down to their hiking tool and fabric hats with no major marks or signs of wear apart from some discolouration to the hats as shown, measuring at approximately 8cm high and 13cm wide at the base.
