Enviously, this very sweet pair are making use of a traditional Japanese onsen or bath and looking more than happy in the toasty water. The traditional kokeshi style of figurine has a very long and developed history, initially created during in the mountainous areas of northern Japan, during winter when we all have to admit we have more free time on our hands at home. People started to carve this little toy dolls which ended being sold to tourists visiting the hot springs in the summer.
This pair are making the most of the hot springs and are overall in good condition with no major damage that can be seen. The straw elements do not seem to be discoloured and the sandals have not been lost! The onsen overall measures at approximately 10cm in width and 10.5cm in height.
