‘Head Of Christ Crowned By Thorns’ is an oil on wood painting commonly attributed to Guido Reno in the 17th century. Reni created many pieces inspired by religious imagery, particularly of Christ during his crucifixion as devotion and purity were highly prized during this time period and this particular section of the bible was meant to inspire these feelings.
This particular painting has been part of The National Gallery, London’s collection since 1855, the postcard reproduction and is in good condition with no major marks or tears with only one bend to a corner. The card measures at approximately 15cm by 10.5cm.
