‘Inbred/Hybrid’ by Ron English splices Jeff Koon’s ‘Rabbit Balloon’ and Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’. Part of his POPaganda movement, splicing high and low cultural touchstones to make their own statement for a full tongue in cheek effect and furthering his anti-capitalist message. The original artwork was made using hand painted plates and enamel ink to give immense depth.
This particular postcard is an invitation to the first showing of ‘Inbred/Hybrid’ at Gallery Stendhal in New York in 1991. The postcard measures at approximately 10.5cm by 15cm, it has been posted with original stamp in place and does show wear to the corners as shown in the photos.
