Vintage postcards are often a brilliant way to add something special to your walls in smaller spaces or to utilise within a gallery wall. This particular postcard has a really special piece of art, a portrait of Albert Mansbridge by his son, well known war time painter John Mansbridge.

Honestly, a truly fascinating man, Albert Mansbridge was the son of a carpenter who. through university extension courses when he was an adult, and further teaching himself, became immensely concerned that the working class populace at the time had no access to such opportunities. He therefore co-founded with his wife, The Workers Educational Association to provide education for adults initially in England, eventually however in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

If this wasn't impactful enough for one family, his son was an official war artist during WWII, creating many of the travel posters so many of use associate with the 1940's, along with portraits many of which are now in the National Portrait Gallery. Eventually, like his father, he  became involved in education becoming a lecturer post-war in fine art and architecture.

The postcard itself measures at approximately 15.5cm in total length and 11cm in width and overall is in good condition with no major marks to the front design. It is unposted therefore blank and ready for you to post or frame!
