A vintage Shikishi board with a hand painted design of figurative female shape complete with an artists seal below. Shikishi is a a traditional paper craft consisting of thick board surrounded by many layers of high quality washi paper, lending itself to the painting technique as seen in this example! The painting itself is heavily textured as shown in the photography and easily grabs the eye.
Alas the artists stamp does not seem to appear in our research, therefore likely one created for themselves.
Overall the board is in good condition, complete with gold tone edge and a flecked washi to the back with only a small section of damage to one side edge as shown. It measures at approximately 27cm by 24cm as is traditional. If you need everything in your house to be sturdy, including the artwork, this is a perfect addition to your home!
